A Ray And Cain Mystery - Murder In The Flower Beds

If you're familiar with my Julia Blake mysteries, you'll know that her dad, Ray, and her colleague, Cain, have become good friends. I thought it would be fun to give them some mysteries of their own to solve. The first one is now out and will be free with Amazon on 17th and 18th December. You can also read it for free if you have Kindle Unlimited.
It's a short story.

Getting involved in a murder investigation had never been part of Ray Rosenthorpe’s retirement plans. But here he was, on a Saturday morning in a garden centre, looking at a dead body in a shed.
A woman Ray knows is standing over the dead body with blood on her hands. She claims she had nothing to do with the murder, and asks Ray to help clear her name. Being the kind-hearted soul that he is, Ray agrees to help her.
With his best friend, Cain, at his side, the two are soon deep in their investigations.

Grace's next adventure is here, and she's not having a good time.

The day that Grace feared finally arrives; the day when she meets a ghost she knows.
The ghost is Roz. She’s been delivering post to Grace’s shop for years, and even knew Grace’s late parents.
Once Roz gets over the shock of being dead, she tells Grace what her unfinished business is. Roz delivered post to an old lady called Olive, and Olive is in trouble and needs urgent help.
Grace doesn’t hesitate to help and is soon deep into her investigation. Things take an unexpected twist when an attempted murder is revealed. The would-be murderer won’t rest until they claim their victim.

Dead Wrong - A Storage Ghost Mystery

The next Storage Ghost Mystery is out, and this involves vampires! You can read this one for free if you've got Kindle Unlimited.

'Grace Abrahams helps ghosts who can’t move on until their problems have been solved. The ghosts she meets are attached to items found at storage locker auctions.

Vince is the ghost of a young man who is attached to a coffin. He’s confused when he appears to Grace, and can’t remember the details of his life, although he does recognise the coffin. He jokes that he might be a vampire.

His joke turns sour when his personality abruptly changes and he’s transformed into a nastier version of himself. And this version is intent on causing Grace harm.'

The book will be free on Amazon on the 7th and 8th December. I've put the links to Amazon Com and UK but if you live elsewhere, click on one of those links and there will be an option to be taken to your own country. It's usually on the top right-hand side of the Amazon page.

I've started to use a new cover designer and I think she's done a great job of this cover :

I was inspired to write these stories after reading a book called Haunted Leeds. We've got a theatre and a music hall in the centre of Leeds, and both are apparently haunted. I combined both aspects of the buildings in my story.  I had a visit to Leeds to get some photos of these lovely buildings.

This is The Grand. Built in 1878. I've been here to see Wicked, Grease and Joseph. It's a beautiful building.

In contrast, this is the alley way that leads to City Varieties Music Hall. A TV show called The Good Old Days was filmed here for years. I've been to see a few comedians here.

Here is the oldest church in Leeds, St John's. Built in 1632. I walked through the gardens on my way to the theatre. Unfortunately, the paved area is made of gravestones and you have no option but to walk on them. I sent a silent apology over each one as I walked across.

Another old church I walked past is Trinity Church. Built in 1727. It's in front of a new shopping centre which is called Trinity. The shopping centre has a clear roof and you can see the church spire through it.

I had a visit to my local library last week and thought I'd take some photos of the buildings on my walk there. There are some lovely ones and any one of them could be haunted ...

This used to be a school and I worked here for a while. I love how the soot from the mills all those years ago has been left on the building.

Morley Library, built in 1906

A view of a chimney and Morley town hall tower taken next to the library. The town hall is having work done. When it's completed, I'll take a better photo.

This used to be the Methodist Church. It's now been converted into apartments.

This used to be a mill and you can see the original chimney is still there. Again, this has been converted into apartments.

New Series - Ruby And Nessa - Ghost Hunters

I've started work on a new series about two sisters, Ruby and Nessa Laurel, who are ghost hunters. I've started the series with two short stories:

A Ghost In The Store
Ruby Laurel is a ghost hunter. She locates ghosts who are haunting places – or people.
In this first story, Ruby is called upon to investigate a haunting in a supermarket. She soon discovers the ghost of a young woman called Mary Jackson. How is Mary connected to the supermarket? And why is she haunting it?
Ruby’s investigation is made more difficult by the arrival of her troublesome younger sister, Nessa. Will Nessa help, or hinder, the investigation?

A Ghost In The Pub
Ruby and Nessa Laurel are ghost hunters. They locate ghosts who are haunting places – or people.
In this second story, Ruby and Nessa are asked to check out a nasty smell in a pub. They soon discover the ghost of an evil man who is determined to scare them away. According to local sources, the man is a local character called Shifty Sid Simmons who was always on the wrong side of the law.
Shifty Sid hasn’t been seen for decades. Why is he suddenly haunting The Red Lion pub?
