The next Ruby and Nessa is now out. It's a longer one and there is more than one ghost to contend with. And more than one secret they uncover ...

I was inspired to write these stories after reading a book called Haunted Leeds. We've got a theatre and a music hall in the centre of Leeds, and both are apparently haunted. I combined both aspects of the buildings in my story.  I had a visit to Leeds to get some photos of these lovely buildings.

This is The Grand. Built in 1878. I've been here to see Wicked, Grease and Joseph. It's a beautiful building.

In contrast, this is the alley way that leads to City Varieties Music Hall. A TV show called The Good Old Days was filmed here for years. I've been to see a few comedians here.

Here is the oldest church in Leeds, St John's. Built in 1632. I walked through the gardens on my way to the theatre. Unfortunately, the paved area is made of gravestones and you have no option but to walk on them. I sent a silent apology over each one as I walked across.

Another old church I walked past is Trinity Church. Built in 1727. It's in front of a new shopping centre which is called Trinity. The shopping centre has a clear roof and you can see the church spire through it.

Box Set of short ghost stories

Following on from my last two short ghost stories, I've now published two more. The titles are : A Ghost In The Garden, and A Ghost In The Church. I've put all four stories together in a box set which works out cheaper than buying them individually. Here are the links:

I had a visit to my local library last week and thought I'd take some photos of the buildings on my walk there. There are some lovely ones and any one of them could be haunted ...

This used to be a school and I worked here for a while. I love how the soot from the mills all those years ago has been left on the building.

Morley Library, built in 1906

A view of a chimney and Morley town hall tower taken next to the library. The town hall is having work done. When it's completed, I'll take a better photo.

This used to be the Methodist Church. It's now been converted into apartments.

This used to be a mill and you can see the original chimney is still there. Again, this has been converted into apartments.

New Series - Ruby And Nessa - Ghost Hunters

I've started work on a new series about two sisters, Ruby and Nessa Laurel, who are ghost hunters. I've started the series with two short stories:

A Ghost In The Store
Ruby Laurel is a ghost hunter. She locates ghosts who are haunting places – or people.
In this first story, Ruby is called upon to investigate a haunting in a supermarket. She soon discovers the ghost of a young woman called Mary Jackson. How is Mary connected to the supermarket? And why is she haunting it?
Ruby’s investigation is made more difficult by the arrival of her troublesome younger sister, Nessa. Will Nessa help, or hinder, the investigation?

A Ghost In The Pub
Ruby and Nessa Laurel are ghost hunters. They locate ghosts who are haunting places – or people.
In this second story, Ruby and Nessa are asked to check out a nasty smell in a pub. They soon discover the ghost of an evil man who is determined to scare them away. According to local sources, the man is a local character called Shifty Sid Simmons who was always on the wrong side of the law.
Shifty Sid hasn’t been seen for decades. Why is he suddenly haunting The Red Lion pub?
